Matthew Jay "Matt" Hullum is an independent filmmaker in Austin, Texas. Along with Burnie Burns, he is a co-founder and served as CEO of Rooster Teeth Productions, a company that specializes in machinima, the art of using engines from computer and video games to create films. Since a corporate reshuffling in 2019, Matt serves as chief content officer.
According to news posts and forum discussion on the Rooster Teeth website, he appears to handle most (if not all) of the animation in The Strangerhood. Also, according to Burnie Burns, "He is the closest we get to actual voice acting." Most of the other voice actors only use their ordinary voice, whereas Matt uses his ordinary voice in addition to other strange accents. As a result, he is responsible for a large amount of the voice acting in the various machinima projects at Rooster Teeth.[1]
Matt was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1974, and is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, where he met Burnie. During the beginnings of Rooster Teeth, he lived in Los Angeles working in the visual effects industry, recording his lines for Red vs. Blue over the phone. He's married to Anna Hullum, with whom he has two children.
He is one of the executive producers for RWBY, and the crew hopes to give him a voice role someday.
He is the co-host of the Rooster Teeth audio podcast, The Bungalow, alongside Ezra Cooperstein.[2]
