Geoffrey Lazer Ramsey (born Geoffrey Paul Fink; June 19, 1975 in Mobile, Alabama) is an American independent filmmaker, actor and voice actor, producer, screenwriter, on-camera host, content producer, comedian, as well as an Internet and YouTube personality who is best known for being the co-founder and prominent staff member of Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter. He is known for being very competitive and apparently always willing to prove fellow staff member Burnie Burns wrong. Ramsey voices character Dexter Grif in Red vs. Blue , one of the most popular of the show. He is also the co-founder of Achievement Hunter.
Geoff began his family in Austin, Texas with Griffon Ramsey, and their daughter Millicent "Millie" Ramsey. In mid-November 2017 it was announced that the duo were in the process of an amicable divorce.[1]
Until late 2011/early 2012, Geoff frequently hosted, produced, filmed, acted and appeared/starred in Rooster Teeth content ranging from live action (RT Shorts), to animation (RTAA, RvB) to podcasts (the RT Podcast) along with his wife Griffon, as well as fellow Rooster Teeth co-founders Burnie, Gus, Joel, Matt and other RT employees in shows that included live action shorts, animated cartoons, and the Rooster Teeth Podcast. Following Griffon's departure, he retired from those fields (non-Achievement Hunter related Rooster Teeth Live action content, RT animated cartoons, and RT Podcasts outside of AH) having switched his focus on primarily managing and starring in Achievement Hunter and LetsPlay gameplays, and since then he has re-appeared only occasionally in RT content outside of AH, including a huge role in the 2017 murder mystery spy thriller The Eleven Little Roosters, directed by Blaine Gibson and Josh Flanagan.
Early life and Education: Pre-Rooster Teeth
Geoff was born (and grew up) primarily in the Mobile, Alabama area where he attended elementary and high school, but resided in Pensacola and Jacksonville Florida and the outlying areas of New Orleans when he was younger. He was a semi-pro bowler in his teenage years, and enlisted into the United States Army before graduating high school, beginning basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina shortly afterwards. His service lasted from 1993 to 1998, though he would go on to serve as a photojournalist in Kuwait, he was based out of Fort Hood during that time.[2][3] Ramsey served in the U.S. Army from 1993 to 1998 and was stationed at Fort Monmouth from 1997 to 1998. He studied journalism at a journalism school called Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He has mentioned on the Rooster Teeth Podcast Episode 4 on August 5, 2009 that his military career involved urinating in another soldiers rucksacks, and also pushing another female reporter out of the way to shield himself from flying phosphorous. Before becoming part of the Rooster Teeth crew, Ramsey spent about a year working as a roadie for East Brunswick-based ska act Catch-22, and also served as a production assistant for Monmouth County filmmaker Kevin Smith's View Askew production company.[4]
After his military service, Ramsey secured a job at the IT tech support company TeleNetwork Partners, where he met Burnie Burns and enjoyed playing video games and created the now defunct website called "Drunk Gamers".
Prior to working for Rooster Teeth and TeleNetwork, Ramsey worked as a production assistant for View Askew Productions, and before that as a roadie for the band Catch 22. He also co-created the web site drunkgamers.com with Gus Sorola, hiring Burns shortly afterwards to run the site. At this company, he applied for a home loan and met Burnie Burns, who was a manager above Geoff and Gus at the time, and wanted to meet the man who was trying to buy a home on an hourly salary.
Career
Rooster Teeth: 2003 - present
In April 2003, Geoff was recruited by Burnie to perform in a show he conceived using one of the team's favorite games, Halo, called Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles. Since then, Geoff dropped his day job to work full-time for the newly-founded Rooster Teeth Productions and has become an Internet celebrity, regularly showing up at conventions such as PAX and Comic-Con. The series is currently in its the sixteenth season. Geoff voices one of the main characters, Dexter Grif on the Red Team. Ramsey is popular with the staff and says that he is very reliable, although some staff members may disagree. Besides voicing Grif on Red vs. Blue, Geoff also frequently worked with Gustavo Sorola and Burnie Burns on the Rooster Teeth Podcast, previously known as "The Drunk Tank" in addition to being a frequent Live action host and content producer, such as on RT Shorts and a lab rat along with Gus Sorola on Immersion.
Ever since the late 2011/early 2012, Geoff has moved away from the RT Podcast, Rooster Teeth Live Action content and Rooster Teeth animated cartoons outside of Achievement Hunter due to a number of reasons, and since then, he has only occasionally re-appeared in these fields (non-Achievement Hunter related Rooster Teeth productions and content outside of AH) though he still continues to regularly voice his character in Red vs. Blue. The reasons were as follows:
- Conflicting schedules. (i.e. the timing of the RT podcast, which is in the evening, prevents him from spending more time with his family at home)
- Griffon's departure from the company to focus on independent chainsaw carving, which made him feel very lonely and left out in these fields, as she had a major role with him on the RT podcast and live action (RT Shorts, Immersion).
- Family setbacks, such as his father's death
- Very busy focusing on managing, overseeing, hosting, producing, and filming/starring the Achievement Hunter content where AH was booming business, which it still is, and now managing the entire Rooster Teeth "Let's Play" YouTube multi-channel network.
Despite no longer being a main host on the RT Podcast, he was in a few episodes of The Patch, Rooster Teeth's gaming podcast throughout November 2014.
As of late 2011/early 2012, Geoff has moved away from these fields of hosting, producing, appearing, and filming/starring in non-AH related Rooster Teeth content and productions outside of Achievement Hunter in order to focus more on hosting, producing, filming and appearing/starring in AH content although he still continues to regularly voice his character (Dexter Grif) on Red vs. Blue. Since then, he has only occasionally appeared in Rooster Teeth live action skits, animated series (cartoons), and podcasts, including a huge role in The Eleven Little Roosters and guest starring on the RT podcast (as a special guest star) with Burnie in August 2017 after almost 6 years.
Since July 2014, he starred bi-weekly with his wife Griffon and co-worker Gavin on Happy Hour, which chronicles their drunken adventures. In late 2014, Ramsey joined the cast of X-Ray and Vav and voiced The Corpirate, the main villain of the first season. Also in late 2014 he earned his Pa.D. and became a doctor of the peggle arts. He served as a guest host on 1 episode (Titanic 2 World Premiere (2015) of RT-ES and 3 episodes of On The Spot. He also voiced Grif in 1 episode in a crossover between Death Battle and Red vs. Blue (The Meta VS Agent Carolina (2016). He also appeared in 1 episode (The Worst Ever! Final Boss (2016) of ScrewAttack's The Best Ever TV Series.
Geoff occasionally cameo-returned to Rooster Teeth Live Action shooting since the fall of 2015 with Let's Play Live: The Documentary, a live action documentary released on mid-September 2015. In early 2017, Geoff made another breakout return to live action starring as Boomerang Geoff in The Eleven Little Roosters for 7 episodes. Here, Geoff Ramsey had previously stated that he never wanted to be involved with non-Achievement Hunter-related Rooster Teeth productions (presumably excluding "Red vs. Blue"), so his appearance in the teaser for The Eleven Little Roosters (2017) in August 2015 created a major buzz. It turned out that Josh Flanagan had told Ramsey that the teaser was just a teaser thrown together at the last minute and not an indication of actual casting, but when the time came to make the series, Flanagan cast Ramsey anyway. On Valentine's Day 2017, he and Griffon started a new monthly podcast titled "Relationship Goals" where they interview other couples, comparing their love story to Geoff and Griffon's love story. In late March 2017, he starred in another live action documentary, called "The Tattooist". In "The Tattooist," Rooster Teeth's Geoff Ramsey explores the subculture of tattoos and takes a crash course from a master tattoo artist. Geoff's tattoos are a road map, drawing paths between different moments in his life. He and his wife Griffon share these stories with their 12-year-old daughter Millie, who struggles to understand why they want tattoos.
On June 7, 2017, Geoff voiced himself in 1 episode (Dungeons and Dragons and Snack 'Ems) in Kinda Funny: The Animated Series. He also recently appeared as a guest host in 8 episodes of "Alternate Lifestyle: The Steven Suptic Experience". In late November 2017, Geoff guest starred in an episode of Always Open with Barbara, Mariel and Bethany.[5]
On August 5, 2017, Geoff surprised the audience by spontaneously guest starring on the RT Podcast on Episode 447.[6] This was due to Burnie approaching himin the AH offices and studios (outside of RT's STage 5) pulling him in ("loaning him in") to host, produce, and film/star in some non-Achievement Hunter related Rooster Teeth content outside of AH, including Red vs. Blue, and it was never his (Geoff's) intention to guest star on the podcast (he had no idea he was going to appear on the RT Podcast) but politely accepted the offer anyway. About 9 months later, on May 9, 2018, Geoff once again special guest starred on the RT Podcast with Burnie and Gus on Episode 491.[7] On November 26, 2018 (6 months and three weeks later), Geoff once again guest starred on RT Podcast: Episode 520 with Gus and Burnie.[8]
In late August 2018, Geoff appeared in Rooster Teeth's feature film "Blood Fest" and played a character named "Guns". He also voiced the Postmaster, in Red Dead Redemption II (Video Game) later that same year, on October 26, 2018.
Tattoos
During the series Schooled in 2016, Ramsey made a bet that if the children lost the competition he would get a life sized tattoo of Gavin Free's nose on his body.[9] In another show The Tattooist, Ramsey learns about the history and subculture of tattoos and learns about giving tattoos, with his main goal being able to test out his new skills on his co-workers.[10]
Achievement Hunter: 2008 - present
Geoff also works on series such as Achievement Hunter (which he started and runs), with his usual co-host Jack Pattillo, which shows people who watch the shows how to earn Xbox achievements. The series is usually up to date with the latest games and focuses on the most difficult or confusing achievements to get. They then created a weekly update/news show called Achievement Hunter Weekly Update (a.k.a. AHWU).
In late 2010, Geoff and Jack created a game through Halo: Reach's Forge mode called Achievement HORSE, similar to the basketball game that it was named after. This series came out every Wednesday. Gamers sent in maps they had created and Geoff and Jack played them. The first to complete the map wins while the other loses. The loser gains a letter (e.g. Geoff wins round 1, Jack gets the letter H). The loser overall is the person to have lost 5 rounds first, completing the word "horse". Sometimes, Geoff or Jack couldn't attend one of the weekly rounds, and the game was changed to PIG with either Geoff or Jack playing against someone else in the company.
In addition to Achievement HORSE, Geoff and Jack started the very popular Fails of the Weak series. Here, fans could send in funny or interesting video clips containing gameplay footage from Halo games. Each Friday, Geoff and Jack organized a montage of fails and narrated them with their usual antics.
These shows helped jump-start Geoff's success with Achievement Hunter. He currently participates in a majority of the Let's Play videos, which involve him and fellow Achievement Hunters playing a game together, either competing against each other and/or deciding to goof around in the game.
Over the years, Achievement Hunter originally only and focused on Geoff and Jack showing tutorials on achievement guides and Easter eggs found in video games, but has since then, they have grown to eighteen staff members with six main hosts in every video (still Geoff and Jack with the welcoming addition of Ryan Haywood, Michael Jones, Gavin Free and Jeremy Dooley who replaced Ray Narvaez, Jr.) having shifted their attention to comedic "Let's Play" videos, wherein they play video games and provide humorous commentary, as well as other video game-related comedic videos (comedy-style gaming videos) live action comedy sketches. In every video he appears in, Geoff is obviously the boss and leader of the group of hosts with either Jack or Gavin as his right-hand man (Jack being AH's co-founder and co-creator while Gavin helped Geoff originally build Achievement City, being the co-creator) often presenting, assigning, dictating and instructing the scenarios, challenges, goals. instructions, and explaining the rules. Sometimes, he oversees the other five hosts perform while at other times, he too performs in the competition and decides who's the winner, presenting the award to the winner. Geoff was also the general manager of Achievement Hunter until his promotion to being the general manager of Rooster Teeth's "Let's Play" YouTube MCN in early April 2016.
In mid-February 2015, Geoff and Jack debuted Let's Play Live, Rooster Teeth's newest in-person entertainment and gaming concert where Achievement Hunter, Funhaus and other Rooster Teeth staff members perform on-stage in-person live game plays, comedy sketches in front of a live audience crowd. In late October 2015, Geoff, along with Michael, debuted Achievement Hunter's newest podcast Off Topic where he appears as a recurring secondary co-host next to Michael.
In June 2018, Rooster Teeth launched its first pop-up store in Los Angeles featuring a collection of shirts, hoodies, bags, and pins designed by Ramsey.[11]
Let's Play Network: 2016 - present
Alongside Luis Medina, Geoffrey was promoted from the Main Head and General Manager of Achievement Hunter to the Rooster Teeth's "Let's Play" gaming YouTube MCN (multi-channel network) on April 8, 2016. That includes managing, co-coordinating overseeing the business growth and production of the newly restocked Let's Play Community and managing and coordinating efforts with Bruce Greene, who manages Funhaus, Craig Craig Skistimas, who now heads Game Attack, Greg Miller (who manages Kinda Funny), formerly Jordan/Kootra who managed The Creatures, James and Aleks who run Cow Chop, JT Music, NoahJ456, LazarBeam and Sugar Pine 7. Funhaus and ScrewAttack were the only groups besides Achievement Hunter that were owned and operated by Rooster Teeth before Sugar Pine 7's eventual acquirement in 2018.
At his business meetings with co-manager Luis Medina, Geoff represents Achievement Hunter, Bruce (with Adam as his right-hand man), formerly Jordan/Kootra representing The Creatures, LLC, either James or Aleks representing Cow Chop, Greg Miller representing Kinda Funny, Craig now representing Game Attack, in addition to YouTubers Machinima, NoahJ456, LazarBeam, and Steven Suptic (now known as Sugar Pine 7).
Rooster Teeth's Let's Play network has announced some partnerships with other channels, in addition to its own Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, and ScrewAttack divisions. This meant that the branch would provide merchandise, promotion, and other benefits for it's partners.
On March 28, 2016, a partnership with Kinda Funny was announced. It was founded by Rooster Teeth co-founder Geoff Ramsey and is run by Luis Medina with Ramsey. Members of the group appear in Rooster Teeth content, and Kinda Funny merchandise is available on the Rooster Teeth Store. Kinda Funny LIVE! was presented by Let's Play and hosted by Burns. A partnership with The Creatures was announced on April 4, 2016. Immediately after it's formation, Cow Chop was also confirmed to be part of Let's Play. Cow Chop, unlike most of its fellow Let's Play partners, has its own Rooster Teeth website, with exclusive video content. Game Attack, which was initially spun off from ScrewAttack before becoming its own independent entity, is also part of Let's Play. Like Cow Chop, Game Attack also has its own Rooster Teeth website. On May 11 Achievement Hunter announced a partnership between the Let's Play Network and video game publisher Ubisoft. Streams and gameplay videos done by any of the Let's Play family members featuring games published by Ubisoft will be released exclusively on the Ubisoft US YouTube channel. On May 31, 2017, it was announced that YouTubers JT Music, NoahJ456, LazarBeam, and Steven Suptic (now known as Sugar Pine 7) had joined Let's Play, with JT Music being the first of which to have merchandise sold through the RT Store. On July 13, 2017, it was announced that The Creatures would be disbanding, effectively ending their partnership with Let's Play.
Sabbatical, weight loss and sobriety: 2017-present[12]
In late February/early March 2017, Geoff took a long sabbatical (extended and paid rest break from his job working the company, basically a temporary retirement before returning to the job and work full-time after about a year) to unwind and spend more time with his family, with Luis Medina being in charge of managing Let's Play.[13] Burnie stated that he was allowed up to one full year but Geoff declined and refuted, heavily implying that he would officially return to duty by late 2017, around RTX London 2017. He also refrained from drinking any alcohol since the beginning of his sabbatical and now sticks to drinking Coke and Diet Coke like Ryan. His sobriety was met with unanimous acclaim, with many people lauding Geoff for looking very lively, younger and healthier.[14]
Geoff announced on February 27, 2017 in an episode of AHWU that he would be taking his first ever sabbatical (extended rest break from AH and RT) from Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter.[15] He still planned to appear in certain videos, such as Heroes & Halfwits, Relationship Goals, Schooled Season 2 and The Off Topic Podcast in addition to host and appear at the 2017 Let's Play Live East Coast Tour and RTX Austin 2017. He returned to regularly hosting, producing and filming/starring in content just before the 2017 Let's Play Live tour.
On November 16, 2017, Griffon Ramsey announced that she and Geoff were in the process of getting an amicable divorce on good terms due to differing lifestyles and different interests/passions/hobbies taking their lives in different directions.[16] They are still loyal friends on good terms, and will continue to raise their daughter Millie together as well as amicably collaborate on several other projects. In April 2018, Geoff mentioned that he was divorced in a video episode of Let's Play Minecraft on YouTube.[17] Geoff in currently is in a relationship with Emily Hatfield.[18]

Let's Play Minecraft
- Geoff was the first person to kill another person in Let's Play Minecraft. (Michael)
- Geoff's Minecraft skin is Master Chief, likely as a reference to his role in Red vs. Blue. He twice put himself on Red Team because of this role in two maps made by then-community member Matt Bragg (Mineball, episode 18, and Grifball (Geoff voicing the titular Grif), episode 22).
- His pig was originally named Pig, but he soon changed it to Giplicker.
- Geoff makes mating calls when creepers are close.
- In Episode 44, he was the first one to find the Tower of Pimps, but when he threw an Ender Pearl to head back, he accidentally teleported into lava WITH the Tower and died, forcing the lads to have to reset the game.
- He landed in lava in the next run as well but he didn't get the Tower at that moment.
- Geoff currently has the longest gap between Tower wins; his last Tower win was in Episode 32 and he would not win the Tower again until Episode 71 (Over 9 months after his previous Tower win). He has since won Episodes 86, 92 and 102.
- Most every man for himself Minecraft Tower of Pimps episodes have Geoff not competing, stating he has an unfair advantage in those competitions. That unfair advantage wasn't present in Episode 86 because although he and Gavin created the episode's safe house, he never placed any target materials into the world.
- Lately Geoff has been playing the role of a shopkeeper, since Episodes 93 and 99 required players to buy their stuff from him to complete the challenges and he was the banker in Episode 95, 110, 120(Monopoly). Ryan's attempts in Episode 93 to steal money from Geoff's Farming and Mercantile Supply store was referenced in Episode 99 when Geoff said his Nether branch was Ryan-proofed.
- Even before a change in build height limit, Geoff's house in Downtown Achievement City was clearly the tallest, often referred to as a 'monolith'. Episodes 81, 83, and 85 were spent increasing his house's height back to the build height limit. Ray later revealed a few episodes later that they had to trim it down quite significantly as Geoff's house at the new build limit actually broke the game and made it almost unplayable.
- The issue is widely believed to have struck back with a vengeance by Episode 247, hence why most videos since then have been in Sky Factory.
- Has told many stories about hitting things with cars at RTX, a rooster teeth event, one of which was a deer, which he hit while driving back from Griffon's house.
Other
- In an earlier podcast Geoff admitted to giving a standing ovation at the end of Rocky V.
- He "knighted" himself in Let's Play Fuel Part 2.
- Only to be the first person to be taken out by a console freeze.
- Geoff is known to be very protective of his daughter, Millie, normally unable to watch or play games that involve a little girl in peril. This is shown when he was unable to get past the first 20 seconds of the Dead Island Announcement Trailer. It is also for this reason that he refuses to play the campaign of The Last of Us, though he has taken part in the Let's Plays featuring it's multiplayer mode.
- Geoff had a previous marriage prior to his marriage to Griffon. The circumstances of this marriage are rarely discussed, although he has openly regarded it as a very negative time in his life.
- Geoff is known for his body art, particularly the numerous tattoos that cover his arms and hands.
- Back when Rooster Teeth was only six people, Geoff learned to handle the Xbox controller with his feet so it'd be easier for him to machinimate a second character.
- Geoff is sometimes called Go-eff by Gavin after getting his name wrong on a sign in an Early Let's Play. The Fake AH Crew then named Geoff's car ''The Go-eff'' which is also his license plate for the car.
- In an early 2014 episode of AHWU, Geoff announced that he no longer drinks. However, in Let's Play Minecraft Episode 92 (Iron Golem), he stated that he started again after he and Griffon established a "designated drinking day."
- Cops and Crooks Part 1 didn't fare too good on Geoff; his HUD was off in round one, Jack waited for him to get into his car in round two which resulted in both Gents getting killed, he respawned in front of an incoming Michael (who had just killed him seconds prior) as Ryan was going by in round four, Michael killed him just as he got into the getaway boat in round six (after Ryan took out Ray, the first lad there, to give Geoff some time), was killed from behind by Ray in round seven while trying to hide from Gavin and Michael, and twice in the episode he and both his teammates were simultaneously blown up by a non-Gavin-wielded RPG (Ray in round five, Michael in round eight; Gavin was behind the wheel of a nearby vehicle both times). He would later be team-killed twice in later Cops 'n' Crooks episodes (by Jack in the second-to-last game of Part 4, which resulted in his team winning that game, and once by Ryan in three separate team-killing incidents in Part 3).
- In Lone Wolf Biker Geoff earned the title of Lone Wolf Biker twice without killing the previous Lone Wolf, who would kill him with Ray nearby both times it happened (Ryan died in an explosion with Michael, Ray, and Gavin hot on his tail the first time - only Michael, who killed Ray by accident, survived the chaos as Gavin exploded almost immediately upon entering the equation - and Michael died on contact with a low wall the second time). On four separate occasions in the episode Geoff ended up driving into water, one of which he was immediately joined by Lone Wolf Biker Ray (which resulted in one of Gavin's Fail-Filled Moments), and immediately flipped a car once he got it. His round two time as Lone Wolf Biker was under ten seconds - considering there were less than ten seconds left in the game when he took the title, avoiding a tie with Gavin (whose only Lone Wolf Biker-related death was by Michael, who had been the Lone Wolf at the time).
- In Minecraft Episode 111, Geoff stated that he wet the bed until age 7.
- In VS Episode 72: Lindsay vs. Geoff, Millie revealed to the world that Geoff's Favorite Color is actually Blue, contradicting his role as Grif on the Red Team in RvB.
- During the Saints Row 3 Let's Play with Michael,Geoff only killed enemies and pedestrians by punching them in their groin. During later episodes Geoff began to forget about this.
- He is left handed. This helped him win the lefty race from One-Handed Race.
- Geoff has repeatedly stated he is the only member of Achievement Hunter cast to not have a role in RWBY. Jack voices Junior, Ryan voices Professor Port, Gavin voices Scarlet, and Michael voices Sun Wukong (as well as Lindsay voicing the lead, Ruby). Only Jeremy has yet to appear.
- In a Q&A with users on his page, Geoff stated he's "Just waiting to be asked" to voice a character in the show.[26]
- In episode 15 of "Happy Hour", titled Piper Cleaners and Dog Tags, Geoff displayed his ability to make his dog tag chain go through his nose and out his mouth, but clogged the sink with vomit in the process, which thoroughly pissed Griffon off.
- His character from X-Ray and Vav, the Corpirate, originated from WWE '13 as his custom character. The character returned for WWE 2K14 as vacation-themed 'Yarrgarita', and his cousin Sloth would appear in the Corpirate's place in WWE 2K16.
- The Corpirate is the only one of five main X-Ray and Vav characters with an origin to himself; Mogar (Michael) and the Mad King (Ryan) both originated from Minecraft, as did the running joke that led to TWO Flynt Coal characters (one in X-Ray and Vav, with a pet rock named after Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and one in RWBY), while an achievement guide for Halo 4 led to the titular duo.
- Geoff is one of two people to be on both sides of a team kill in the same video with the same person, the other being Trevor.
- He shot Trevor first, claiming he moved, and after Trevor killed him he said they were 'even'.
- Geoff has two ex-wives. His marriage with his first wife, Sarah, reportedly ended poorly. In his marriage with Griffon, he had Millie. They then amicably split in 2017.
