A native of Florida, Levy was studying Psychology in Seminole Community College when he decided to use his musical background to instead work as a sound engineer. He joined a mentor/apprenticeship program at Jay Stanley Productions in the Orlando area, and after graduating moved to Pompano Beach (in the Fort Lauerdale area), working under producers Tony Bongiovi and Doug Lubahn at Power Station Studios, starting as an intern and working his way up to eventually becoming Chief engineer. Once Levy felt burnt out by the job, he decided to use the move to Austin, where his wife got a job, to instead work as a composer.[1][2]
